Fortuity Cellars

2021 Rosé (Nuwave)

2021 Rosé (Nuwave)

We first met Pacific Northwest artist Erin Oostra when she visited Fortuity after hiking. We poured wine and chatted like old friends! Soon after, we began to visit Ellensburg and saw the community’s Wine+Art potential. We saw Fortuity here. As chance would have it, Erin was looking to expand her art journey.

This Wine+Art collaboration is all about celebrating life’s chance moments!

Custom wine label by Erin Oostra. A portion of the proceeds of this bottle and the sale of the original artwork will be donated to a Central Washington art-focused non-profit.

2021 Yakima Valley Rosé of Cinsault, Marcella and Olsen Vineyards

Pale salmon-pink in color, this rosé is truly reminiscent of Provence-style rosé. Ripe notes of strawberry, watermelon, and cotton candy spring out of the glass and are followed by more complex notes of guava and rose water. The texture of this wine is mouth watering and smooth. Similar to the Viognier this wine is bone dry, but the smooth texture makes drinking this wine effortless, and the bottle will be gone before you know it.

Vineyard Notes
Marcella is defined by very steep southwest exposure and is a very warm-to-hot site, which is perfect for ripening our white rhone varieties. Wines from Marcella tend to be a little softer and more fruit forward than many other vineyard sites in the valley. Originally planted to Merlot in 1997, plantings were expanded in 2003 to include: Cinsault, Viognier, Roussanne, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvedre. The Rawn family began farming this 10-acre parcel in 2011. Elevation 1075. Olsen Vineyards are located in the East end of the Yakima Valley from north of Prosser to north of Benton City. The vineyards are planted on several different sites with a wide variety of slopes, aspects, and elevations. The first vines were planted in 1980 and the youngest will be planted in 2005. Varieties grown include Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsaut, Petit Verdot, Grenache, and Malbec.
